With reference to your despatch No.359
(F 4654/3383/87) of November 16th last I have the
honour to report that the Diario de Noticias of the
13th instant published a telegraphic message from
Hongkong according to which, notwithstanding the
great financial losses thereby entailed, the
Government of Macao are preparing a measure abolishing
opium concessions as from July next.
2. The message adds that this measure will be
submitted to the approval of the central government.
